Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies is a new site-specific work by the internationally acclaimed artist Cai Guo-Qiang. Commissioned by aPA with Fung Collaboratives on the occasion of the centennial of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies invites the public to actively experience the Parkway from a new perspective by riding inside the artworks.

This accessible public artwork will be free to all, and will make its world premiere on Friday, September 15, 2017. Fireflies will run for four weekends, Thursdays through Sundays, four hours a night, from Thursday, September 14 to Sunday, October 8, 2017. Residents and tourists alike will be invited to board the vehicles to take rides up and down the Parkway from Sister Cities Park to Iroquois Park near the Philadelphia Museum Art. Others will be able to observe the delicate aerial dance of the luminous orbs from a distance.
