Welcome Back, McCall!

Dear McCall Family,

We hope you have had a restful summer! This summer, McCall families and community members gathered at Starr Garden Recreation Center for a Kindergarten Playdate and Little Library painting activity. It was so much fun!

Thank you to Philadelphia Parks and Recreations (and HSA Board member-at-large) Chloe Harris and Chris Windle for leading this activity! Special thanks to Amy Martin of Friends of Independence Branch Library for spending the day with us. We thank the Friends of Independence Branch Library for donating three Little Libraries to our catchment in partnership with the McCall School Advisory Council. Please visit our other Little Library at Franklin Square. (Stay tuned for details about the third Little Library, which will live at McCall Elementary School.)

The HSA recently welcomed back faculty and staff with a catered luncheon by Ruby’s Bytes. The fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, assorted sandwiches, and pasta salad were a hit! Thank you McCall faculty and staff for the important work that you do!

As a friendly reminder, the first day of school for all students is Monday, August 27, 2018! The School District of Philadelphia invites you to ring a bell on your cellphone (or a real bell) at 8 AM to give faculty, staff, and students a festive welcome. Remember to tag your social media posts with #RingtheBell!

Please save these dates:

On Thursday, September 6 at 7 PM, we will have our first HSA meeting. It will be held at Starr Garden Recreation Center (600 Lombard Street).

On Friday, September 7 from 5-7 PM, the HSA will host  a potluck-style Welcome Back Party in the McCall Elementary School school yard. Families are invited to bring blankets and relax! This is also a good opportunity to bring gently used clothing, uniforms, and jackets for clothing swap!

On Wednesday, September 12, McCall will have its Back to School Night from 5-7 PM. Community partners will have tables starting at 4:30 PM. Principal McKenna will kick off Back to School Night in the auditorium at 5 PM.

9月12号星期三是返校夜时间是 5 — 7 pm。4:30pm 会有一些社区合作伙伴在学校分发关于他们的信息。校长McKenna女士将于5pm整在学校礼堂举行返校夜活动。这是跟孩子老师最好的见面时间，可以了解整个学年老师使用什么样的教程、教材来教学生。如果您对捐赠或志愿服务感兴趣，请让Nancy Lin知道：nancylg90@hotmail.com或215 305 2565. Nancy她说普通话和福州话。
