Dress Down Days – February

Eagles

We will have a bonus, free Dress Down Day on Friday, February 2nd! Wear Eagles clothing (or green) in support of the Eagles in the Super Bowl!!!!!

Our regularly scheduled monthly Dress Down Day (wear red/pink) will be moved to Friday, February 9thIf participating, please send $1 in and the homeroom teacher will collect the money in the morning.

Participating students earn points toward Blue & Gold DayMcCall‘s annual field day in the spring.

Tech Lab Donations 技术实验室捐赠

Our phenomenal McCall Elementary School Technology teacher Ms. Katherine Smith hosted McCall’s first-ever McCall Code-A-Thon on Friday, December 7, 2018. We are so proud of all of the students who participated!

Per Ms. Smith, “During the Code-A-Thon, students are presented with coding challenges which they will have the opportunity to research, plan and create a finished product. The projects are then judged on their adherence to the required components and the creative execution of the idea. Please be assured that not all judges are computer programmers. One of the goals of the competition is to include people of different professions as coding is quickly becoming an integral part of education and occupational preparedness.”

All City Middle School Orchestra

Congratulations to McCall students Elva Liu, Ryan Anderson-Fitzgerald, Jean-Pierre Charpentier, and Andre Charpentier!

They have been accepted into the All City Middle School Orchestra.

Concert is March 27th at 7PM at Central High School.

McCall School is again participating in the Philacycle Green Schools Program (formerly known as Recyclebank)!

Here’s the link to donate your points starting today and you can earn more points by doing educational activities on Philacycle‘s site.

We have until March 16th to reach our goal of $2459.

So far, we have had 123 donors give $1144.07 and that’s 46% of our goal!

Girls on the Run/Heart & Sole Registration

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run (Grades 3-5)/ Heart & Sole (Grades 6-8) is a national, not-for-profit, after-school program for girls from 3rd-5th and 6th- 8th grade which combines training for a 5K with an interactive curriculum to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles.

The program will begin on March 5th and will run for 10 weeks every Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 4: 30 PM.The season will conclude with a 5K race on June 9, 2018.

Each team will consist of 15- 20 girls MAXIMUM. There will not be four coaches this season for one team, so participants will be limited to this number. Attendance policies will be strictly enforced and girls with more than 3 unexcused absences from practice may be asked to leave the team. Register early! Registration can be completed online at http://www.gotrphiladelphia.org/

Paper applications are available by request to Ms. Asto. Online registration is strongly encouraged.

Registration Fee: The registration fee to participate in GOTR/ H&S is $10 – $150 depending on annual household income. This self reported information is due at the time of registration. Financial Assistance is available to those who qualify. This fee provides each participant with a t-shirt, race registration, medal, healthy snacks, and an end of season celebration. The fee also covers behind the scenes necessities such as liability insurance, trained coaches with CPR/first aid certification, background checks on all volunteers, curriculum, and lesson materials. Finances should never prevent a girl from participating. Financial assistance is available based on annual household income and upon completion of a scholarship application. NO CHILD WILL BE DENIED DUE TO COST.
