McCall Science Fair

On Tuesday, March 21st the Upper School students will be presenting their science fair projects in Rooms 319, 322, 323, 324, and 327. Students in grades four, five, and six will be cycling through and viewing the projects in the 13 different categories of science. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place within each category.

Parents are invited to come and view the projects and presentations within these rooms from 9:30 AM to 11:45AM. Please check in with the office when you arrive.

Bullying Prevention Week

THIS week, March 27th through March 31st will be McCall’s Bullying Prevention Week, hosted by the Student Council.

Monday – Kindness Day
Kick off day: Hearts for Acts of Kindness!
Teachers & staff give out heart sticky notes for kind acts
Tuesday – Compliment Day
Take a compliment from posters around the school and give them to a friend
Wednesday – No One Eats Alone Day
Sit & talk with new people and listen to music
Thursday – Pledge Day
Each classroom creates a short pledge to stand against bullying
FridayDress Down in Orange for solidarity against bullying / Teaching tolerance circles
Dress down in orange and circle discussions about bullying in each classroom.

All-City Middle School Concert

This year’s All-City Middle School Concert Band, Jazz Band & String Ensemble Members Concert is Wednesday, March 22nd at 7PM at George Washington High School.

McCall Students Sofia Stenberg, Louis Dong, Andre Charpentier, and Pierre Charpentier will be performing!

National History Day

McCall 8th graders competed in the regional National History Day competition today with phenomenal results! The top 2 places in each division advance to the State competition in May.

Parent Workshop Night – Presentations

Starr Garden Spring Soccer

Registration for Starr Garden Spring Soccer for children ages 5-8 will take place on  Wednesday, April 5th and Thursday, April 6th from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Starr Garden, 6th and Lombard. Cost is $45 (check or cash) (includes T-shirt and pizza party).

Children may attend soccer on Fridays and/or Saturdays.

District-wide Family Workshop

The next District-wide Family workshop is called “Standardized Test: ‘What Parents NEED to know about School Assessment’” and will take place onWednesday, March 29, 2017 at The District’s Education Center at 440 N. Broad Street.They will host a morning session that will at 10:00 AM and an evening session at5:00 PM. Children are welcome to attend and a light meal will be served.

In this upcoming workshop, The Office of Curriculum and Assessment will provide resources that will assist families with understanding the purpose of standardize tests, overview of PA Core Standards, testing accommodations and modifications, opt-out testing procedures, and resources and test-taking tips to help prepare your child for success on the test.

We will also be raffling a movie gift cards and other prizes during the workshop.
