McCall Community, congratulations on being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education – one of 342 schools nationwide, and one of 18 in Pennsylvania!
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program is a United States government program created in 1982 to honor schools that have achieved high levels of student achievement or made significant improvements in closing the achievement gap among student subgroups.
On Thursday, when it was announced, Dr. Hite and Mayor Kenney joined the students and staff on the playground. Here’s some of the coverage!
Stay tuned for details on a community-wide celebration hosted by HSA and SAC!

This year the Dress Down Days will again take place the first Friday of each month.
As in past years, if your child participates and dresses out of uniform, please send $1 in and the homeroom teacher will collect the money in the morning. Participating students earn points toward Blue & Gold Day, McCall’s annual field day in the spring.
This month’s theme, for Friday, October 6th, is Sports Teams!

Picture Day is THIS Thursday, October 12th.
The order forms were distributed last week. When returning your form and money, please remember to include the 6% sales tax.
We encourage online orders using McCall’s Picture Day ID: JL457125Q0 on Lifetouch.com.
Volunteers, with clearances, are welcome! Classes will be visiting the auditorium from 8:30 AM to around 12:00 PM. Stop by for primping help whenever you can! If you are interested in volunteering, please let Frank know by the end of the day, Wednesday.
Remember that all children must be proudly showing their unity and school spirit by wearing approved school attire – following our school uniform policy.
A percentage of Picture Day sales go directly to the McCall Home & School – generally over $1000! This is an awesome way to continue to support our school while preserving precious memories of our children’s growth.
Volunteers are needed and details will follow.
If you have any questions, please contact our Picture Day Chair Frank at fgsgems@gmail.com.

Please join Principal McKenna and the HSA Board for our kickoff Coffee with the Principal followed by the HSA Meeting!
It will take place on Wednesday, October 18th at 8:45 AM in the Library.
These periodic meetings are a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents and learn about McCall happenings.
Mr. Tang will be using the new translation headset devices that HSA purchased this year for $11,000! Thank you everybody for your generous contributions that enables us to provide so many resources for our school!
Please come and socialize with other McCall Adults on Wednesday, October 18th at 7:30 PM at Kanella South (757 S. Front Street) for a fun night out at a delicious McCall Family-owned restaurant!

McCall Home & School Association is partnering with Cradles to Crayons for their Gear Up for Winter BIG GIVE event on Saturday, October 21st from 10AM to 1PM.
Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless and low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school, and at play.
McCall HSA will be hosting a collection drive for these items in front of McCall School on 6th street between Pine and Spruce. We will be collecting gently used clothing, toys, and books, and vitally needed warm winter essentials such as coats, hats, boots, gloves, and sweaters.
Now is a perfect time to clean out your closets, bookshelves, and toy bins and provide children in need with the items they need to thrive!
Here are the Donation Guidelines.
Please contact Sheri Feinberg at sherifeinberg4@gmail.com with any questions or if you want to help out with the collection drive.
