What wonderful attendance and enthusiasm at Back to School Night!
In case you missed it, here are links to Ms. McKenna’s speech (Principal), Melissa Raffel and Marta’s Rodriguez’s speech (allergy awareness), and Laurel Landau’s speech (HSA President).
The speeches were translated by Mr. Tang in real time with our new translation headsets, which HSA just purchased for the McCall community!
Thank you to Mr. Sykes and Ms. Asto for hosting a movie for the children while the parents were in the classrooms.
Recently, the students will receive our HSA Letter (here is the Chinese version) describing our goals and recent accomplishments as well as an an HSA membership form/Envelope for you to fill out with your contact information. We rely greatly on your support, both financial and physical. McCall is able to offer the many programs it can because of our generous community. Please support our wonderful school in whatever way you can.
Last year, we raised $60,000! So far this year, we have raised $15,000! With money raised, we plan to continue to update technology and textbooks, maintain and upgrade our indoor and outdoor facilities, and fund Education Works, our structured recess program with Coach Nick.
Please check with your company regarding corporate matching and also United Way campaigns! McCall HSA is a 501(c)(3) organization, so contributions are tax-deductible.

This exciting fundraiser for the school will run until Wednesday, October 4th. The students will receive information packets this week.
If you sell 10 items per family, all siblings will attend the “DJ Partaay”!
When sending in your check, please make it out to “McCall HSA.”
Please try to solicit sales from friends, family, and co-workers — there are neat products in the catalogs! We do not promote children going door-to-door to make sales. You may make sales online, too. Go to McCall’s Page.

The most important news and events for the week of September 18, 2017:
The first Philadelphia Home & School General Membership Meeting of the school year will take place on Wednesday, September 20th at 10AM at The Café, Education Center, 440 N. Broad Street.
The speakers include: Dr. William Hite, Superintendent of the Philadelphia School District, Helen Gym, Philadelphia City Council; and Evette Jones, PFT.
